Our Story
Vancouver’s Original French Artisan Bakery
Established in 1982 on Granville Island, La Baguette & l’Echalote is regarded as the original French artisan bakery of Vancouver. What began as a family bakery has grown to become one of Greater Vancouver’s most appreciated wholesale suppliers of quality breads and pastries. In October 2012, a fire took us out of Granville Island, but it didn’t stop us from doing what we know best: baking delicious bread and pastries. At La Baguette & l’Echalote, we are continually working on research and development to bring new products to market and as always, consistently working to ensure we are baking the best products possible.

HOW WE MAKE OUR BREAD
We believe in the basics when it comes to bread, always keeping it simple and never rushing the process. Our slow fermented sourdough breads take 48 hours to prepare, and our numerous signature starters allow us to produce a wide range of flavour profiles from the most simple ingredients of flour, water and salt.
We make our breads using top quality ingredients, no preservatives or artificial flavours and to ensure the highest quality possible, we bake our breads nightly for the freshest morning delivery. We are happy to accept orders until 2pm two days before delivery.
